Television Now
In the old days, families gathered around a single television set every night. The programming varied, but not by much. Today, the average American owns at least two television sets. While 31% of American households owns 4 or more televisions. Programming has also changed, the demand for varied television programming has grown exponentially and the day of "Leave it to Beaver" shows are long gone. Instead, reality shows, crime dramas, and British exports are the topic of the hour. These shows range from the gritty to the ridiculous and sophisticated and much like shows of the old, shows today reflect society and the human condition.
This blog hopes to explore the different ways people consume media, rising trends in television, the influence of technology and social media, and what television programs says about us as individuals and society.
